About Us

Pacific Anesthesia, a Professional Services Corporation, was incorporated in 1987.  Since that time, it has grown to a staff of fifty-four (54) anesthesiologists, serving two major hospitals and eleven Ambulatory or Outpatient Centers, (ASCs) in Tacoma, Edmonds, Lynnwood, Puyallup, and Everett, Washington. Pacific Anesthesia is governed by the following three key overarching tenets:

QUALITY – Pacific Anesthesia is a quality focused physician group dedicated to assuring the best possible anesthetic experience that can be provided for their patients, surgical colleagues and hospital partners.

PASSION – Pacific Anesthesia is passionately engaged in building a working experience that fosters collegiality, embraces change, displays professional and ethical standards, seeks new growth opportunities, and challenges its members to be involved in all aspects of the practice.

RESPECT – Pacific Anesthesia is a very egalitarian organization that believes every physician must be treated fairly, and with respect and dignity.  Pacific Anesthesia supports an engaged and energetic centralized governance process, accountable to its shareholders and associates, and empowered by those shareholders and associates to move the organization forward in all aspects of the practice.

PA believes it differentiates itself from its competitors through its unwavering approach to quality programs, requirement for board certification by all its eligible member physicians, best practice initiatives it brings to each facility served due to its multi-site service locations, attractive and challenging case mix and practice opportunities for its physicians, and the use of professional medical group management advisors with state and national management experience in the clinical specialty of anesthesia. PA believes its competitors cannot match the investment the group has made in achieving the combination of clinical skills and professional approaches to providing exemplary anesthesia service to each facility it serves. We would like you to consider the following:

· Pacific Anesthesia operates a Washington State-approved Quality Improvement Program as defined in RCW §43.70.510(2) that continuously improves and promotes the clinical and interpersonal skills of its physicians in a manner that can be documented and demonstrated to patients and the community as a whole.  Pacific Anesthesia is one of only a few anesthesiology groups in Washington with such a robust state-approved Quality Improvement program.

· Pacific Anesthesia requires its eligible physicians to attain Board Certification in Anesthesiology, a lofty standard not required by many of PA’s competitors.

· Pacific Anesthesia recognizes the need for business advisory services, and therefore has engaged professional management, compliance, and billing services for its physicians, an investment many of our competitors have been unwilling to duplicate.

· Pacific Anesthesia serves two major hospitals and multiple surgery centers in the Puget Sound area. As a result, the group enjoys excellent relationships with most third-party payers, which translates into lower out-of-pocket expenses for our patients due to our in-network participation with most insurance plans.  The daily efficiencies we are able to achieve in the operation of hospital and surgery center operating rooms allows us to build exceptionally strong partnerships with all of our serviced facilities.

· Pacific Anesthesia has a governance structure that promotes involvement by its shareholders and even non-shareholder associate members, while maintaining a strong, centralized Board of Directors.

· Pacific Anesthesia has the flexibility to allocate staffing resources where necessary to accommodate changing staffing needs, such as a flexible panel of board certified anesthesiologists to serve our partner hospitals and surgery centers, which could be particularly beneficial during any transitional ramp-up period.
